I worked with a difficult person a few years ago. I tried to have fun with him. I even gave him a small plastic gnome holding a gun.
He seemed ambivalent towards the gnome. I was challenged.
I took the gnome after about a week and left this:
“Ransom Notice
Put $5 in unmarked $1 chocolate coins in utility room 2, level 38 by 3.00 pm friday 6.1.12 or the gnome gets it
Gnome: DO WHAT THEY SAY”
He ignored me.
I picketed his desk with protesting gnomes.
BRING HOME GNOMEO!
GO HARD OR GO GNOME!
GMONES > ECOGNOMICS!
OCCUPY DESK!
LEAVE NO GNOME BEHIND!
WE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR GNOME!
The man remained unmoved. He had no soul. No poetry. No humour.
The gnomes vanished when I was not in the room.
Never a word was said.
When he left soon after to persue a new ‘career’, he sent out an invitation to entire company to join him in goodbye drinks.
Except – he removed 8 people from the invite list.
I was one of those eight.
I am proud of that.
