Tired – prose (about menopause)

This poem brought to you by hormonal fatigue, before a solution was implemented

*

On waking up I throw the hook

That latches to the end of the day

I pull it tight and haul myself to

I tell my body it must obey

I wake up tired and dream of sleep

It never seems enough

My eyes drop like the minute hand

Remaining upright is so tough

Lethargy really wears one down

My hormones are the cause

I’d get really rather cross at them

But the effort makes me pause

What was high is turned down low

I never expected this

If only I could go about my life

Without feeling so amiss

Tired – prose (about menopause)
